Captain Bios

John Ellington

I was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and currently reside in Mitchellville, Md.

I am an avid sportsman participating in a number of sports including sailing, football, skiing, swimming, diving, biking, skydiving, and golf. As a young man, I had no exposure to most of these sports until later in life.

I was introduced to sailing on a cozy Caribbean island - Martinique in 1985. I had always been attracted to the water, but my first sailing experience seduced me. I've sailed a couple times a year since then until 1999 when I decided to get very serious and more adventurous with the sport. I've sailed mainly in the Chesapeake Bay and the Caribbean Sea. In 2003 I sailed with a small group in the Aegean Sea. Until that point in time, it was the pinnacle of my sailing experience. International sailing and bareboating has lured me into a state of enchantment.

For me, sailing is a properly planned journey, full of surprises and adventure. One charts a course for a destination and begins negotiating with nature (wind, current, tide, seas, etc.) to gain respectful passage and ultimately drop anchor at the intended location.

The peaceful and refreshing enticement of the sea compliments the adventure and exhilaration I reap from my humble negotiation with nature.

I currently own a 34' Catalina that is slipped 10 miles south of Annapolis in Deale, Md.

Robert Jordan

I have always been an active outdoorsman.
It was in Pittsburgh, in 1991, that I had my first sailing experience with a friend from Houston, TX.
We went out on a lake and it was like I was bitten by the biggest bug ever. I LOVED IT!!!!

A conversation began between me and God that will never end.

Since then I have captained, sailed and explored in many different places, including, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Belize, St Marten, St Lucia, Jamaica, The US and British Virgin Islands, and along both coasts of the US.
Presently, I have a boat slipped in Annapolis Maryland where I teach introductory sailing and basic navigational skills to those open to a spiritual transformation.

In 2005 I started “Horizons Sail Camp for kids which is a program designed to use the art and science of sailing to teach young adults about leadership, teamwork, and the environment.

For me, Sailing is a metaphor for life and all of its extremes. From the most incredibly beautiful experiences; to standing at the edge of the dark abyss; sailing has been instrumental to the development of my inner spirit, and soul, and I am sure it will be the same for you.

Arthur Fuller, Jr.

I'm a Chesapeake Bay based sailor who has a passion for taking the seldom trod path. An avid skydiver, skier, snowboarder, and rollerblader; I have now found a sport that can combine the thrill of speed, wind and water ........ Sailing!

I've always been around water and love the mystery of the way the tide ebbs and flows; how the sun disappears behind the horizon; how the sea can get angry; and how it can change and be sooooo inviting.

Sailing gives me a thirst for learning more about life. It's taught me how to be patient, confident, trusting, respectful, and most of all humble.

I invite you to follow me and experience life.
