Safety always comes first on any Sankofa Odyssey adventure.

Our Captains have a combined 25 years of sailing experience, and have sailed all over the world. Since  Sankofa Odyssey began 7 years ago we have completed over 15 adventures without a single incident.

Since the very beginning, Sankofa Odyssey has a 100% incident free safety record!

A Detailed Safety Briefing.

Prior to departure, your Captain and 1^st mate will review a list of safety items and answer any questions you have ranging from “What if someone falls in the water” to “how do we contact someone in the event of an emergency”?

As a result of years of training and experience, we are prepared to respond to just about any situation that may arise. Furthermore, we never lose sight of land and are always prepared to request additional emergency assistance if required.

So you can’t swim?

Don’t worry if you can’t swim. Every year we have many crew members that can’t swim join our adventures. We have plenty of equipment on board including life jackets and other flotation devices you may want or need to be safe in or near the water.

If at any point you have a concern about safety, simply bring your concern to the Captains or first mates attention and it will be addressed.
